Pilgrimage to the House is a duty towards God upon humankind, for those who can find a way there. Al Quran
According to Hadith “Whosoever possesses the provisions (for Hajj) and the means of transport to take him to the House of Allah, yet he never performs the Hajj, then there is no blame on him if he dies as a Jew or as a Christian”.
Prophet Muhammad said: “O Amr! Do you not know that embracing Islam washes away all sins committed before it (during disbelief)? And that migration (Hijrah) washes away all sins committed before it. And that Hajj wipes out all sins committed before it”. [Muslim]
The Noble Prophet Muhammad (blessings of Allah are upon him and his family) has said, “A person who circumambulates this House (the Kaaba) seven times and performs the two Rak’at Salat (of Tawaf) in the best form possible will have his sins forgiven.”
It has been narrated from Aba Abdillah [Imam Ja’far Ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq] (peace be upon him) who said, “Surely Allah, the Noble, and Grand, has made three things sacred and there is nothing else equivalent to them: His Book (Holy Quran) which is His Command and Divine Light; His House (The Kaaba) which He has made as the focal point (Qiblah) and He will not accept from anyone facing any other direction; and the family of your Prophet.”
Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “(The performance of) ‘Umrah during Ramadan is equal to Hajj (pilgrimage).” Or said, “Equal to the performance of Hajj with me.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
It has been narrated from Abi Ja’far [Imam Muhammad Ibn Ali al-Baqir] (peace be upon him) that he said, “It does not matter if one visits this House (Kaaba) if he does not possess three traits: Cautiousness (Wara) which prevents him from sinning; forbearance which helps him rule over his anger; and good interaction with those who are with him.”
As-Sadiq [Imam Ja’far Ibn Muhammad] (peace be upon him) was asked, “Why is it discouraged to fast on the days of Tashriq (11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhul Hijjah)?” Imam Ja’far Ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq (P.B.U.H) replied, “Since people are visiting Allah and are His guests (during these days), it is not advisable that a guest should fast in the presence of the One whom he is visiting.”
Hajj Mubarak quotes
And [mention] when We made the House a place of return for the people and [a place of] security. And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer. And We charged Abraham and Ishmael, [saying], “Purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying [there] for worship and those who bow and prostrate [in prayer].” (Al Quran 2:125)
Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs ‘umrah – there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good – then indeed, Allah is appreciative and Knowing. (Al Quran 2:158)
They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the new moons. Say, “They are measurements of time for the people and for Hajj.” And it is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah. And enter houses from their doors. And fear Allah that you may succeed. (Al Quran 2:189)
And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah. But if you are prevented, then [offer] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals. And do not shave your heads until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter. And whoever among you is ill or has an ailment of the head [making shaving necessary must offer] a ransom of fasting [three days] or charity or sacrifice. And when you are secure, then whoever performs ‘umrah [during the Hajj months] followed by Hajj [offers] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals. And whoever cannot find [or afford such an animal] – then a fast of three days during Hajj and of seven when you have returned [home]. Those are ten complete [days]. This is for those whose family is not in the area of al-Masjid al-Haram. And fear Allah and know that Allah is severe in penalty. (Al Quran 2:196)
Hajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj. And whatever good you do – Allah knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allah. And fear Me, O you of understanding. (Al Quran 2:197)
There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord [during Hajj]. But when you depart from ‘Arafat, remember Allah at al- Mash’ar al-Haram. And remember Him, as He has guided you, for indeed, you were before that among those astray. (2:198)
Then depart from the place from where [all] the people depart and ask forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Al Quran 2:200)
And when you have completed your rites, remember Allah like your [previous] remembrance of your fathers or with [much] greater remembrance. And among the people is he who says, “Our Lord, give us in this world,” and he will have in the Hereafter no share. (Al Quran 2:200)
But among them is he who says, “Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (Al Quran 2:201)
And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days. Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days – there is no sin upon him, and whoever delays [until the third] – there is no sin upon him – for him who fears Allah. And fear Allah and know that unto Him you will be gathered. (Al Quran 2:203)
Indeed, the first House [of worship] established for mankind was that at Makkah – blessed and a guidance for the worlds. (Al Quran 3:96)
In it are clear signs [such as] the standing place of Abraham. And whoever enters it shall be safe. And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House – for whoever is able to find thereto a way. But whoever disbelieves – then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds. (Al Quran 3:97)
O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. Lawful for you are the animals of grazing livestock except for that which is recited to you [in this Qur’an] – hunting not being permitted while you are in the state of ihram. Indeed, Allah ordains what He intends. (Al Quran 5:1)
O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allah or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] or [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of ihram, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty. (Al Quran 5:2)
O you who have believed, Allah will surely test you through something of the game that your hands and spears [can] reach, that Allah may make evident those who fear Him unseen. And whoever transgresses after that – for him is a painful punishment. (Al Quran 5:94)
O you who have believed, do not kill game while you are in the state of ihram. And whoever of you kills it intentionally – the penalty is an equivalent from sacrificial animals to what he killed, as judged by two just men among you as an offering [to Allah] delivered to the Ka’bah, or an expiation: the feeding of needy people or the equivalent of that in fasting, that he may taste the consequence of his deed. Allah has pardoned what is past; but whoever returns [to violation], then Allah will take retribution from him. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution. (Al Quran 5:95)
Lawful to you is a game from the sea and its food as provision for you and the travelers, but forbidden to you is a game from the land as long as you are in the state of ihram. And fear Allah to whom you will be gathered. (Al Quran 5:96)
So travel freely, [O disbelievers], throughout the land [during] four months but know that you cannot cause failure to Allah and that Allah will disgrace the disbelievers. (Al Quran 9:2)
Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him]. (Al Quran 9:36)
Hajj Mubarak quotes
Indeed, the postponing [of restriction within sacred months] is an increase in disbelief by which those who have disbelieved are led [further] astray. They make it lawful one year and unlawful another year to correspond to the number made unlawful by Allah and [thus] make lawful what Allah has made unlawful. Made pleasing to them is the evil of their deeds, and Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. (Al Quran 9:37)
And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass. (Al Quran 22:27)
And [mention, O Muhammad], when We designated for Abraham the site of the House, [saying], “Do not associate anything with Me and purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who stand [in prayer] and those who bow and prostrate. (Al Quran 22:26)
That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals. So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor. (Al Quran 22:28)
Then let them end their untidiness and fulfill their vows and perform Tawaf around the ancient House. (Al Quran 22:29)
For you the animals marked for sacrifice are benefits for a specified term; then their place of sacrifice is at the ancient House. (Al Quran 22:33)
And [mention, O Muhammad], when We designated for Abraham the site of the House, [saying], “Do not associate anything with Me and purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who stand [in prayer] and those who bow and prostrate. (Al Quran 22:36)
Certainly, has Allah showed to His Messenger the vision in truth. You will surely enter al-Masjid al-Haram, if Allah wills, in safety, with your heads shaved and [hair] shortened, not fearing [anyone]. He knew what you did not know and has arranged before that a conquest near [at hand]. (Al Quran 48:27)

There are five pillars of Islam that make the joy and the blessings come through from Allah. Hajj is one of those special pillars that we seek Allah’s guidance to perform. May you have a blessed Hajj.
Understanding the Significance of Hajj
Hajj, an integral pillar of Islam, holds profound significance for Muslims worldwide, representing a spiritual journey of immense importance. It is a sacred duty enjoined upon those who possess both the financial means and physical capability to undertake the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. The pilgrimage symbolizes unity, humility, and devotion to Allah, serving as a tangible expression of faith.
Muslims embark on this journey to seek purification of the soul, forgiveness of sins, and spiritual rejuvenation. As they perform the rituals prescribed by Islamic tradition, they engage in acts of worship and reflection, drawing closer to their Creator and reinforcing their connection to the Muslim ummah, the global community of believers. Thus, the utterance of “Hajj Mubarak” resonates with profound meaning, encapsulating the joyous spirit of this sacred occasion and conveying heartfelt wishes for a blessed and fulfilling pilgrimage experience.
Expressing Blessings and Wishes
During the Hajj season, Muslims around the world extend warm greetings to one another, expressing sentiments of joy, peace, and solidarity. The phrase “Hajj Mubarak” serves as a heartfelt expression of goodwill and blessings, acknowledging the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage and the collective journey of faith undertaken by believers. It conveys a sense of celebration and reverence for the sacred rituals performed during Hajj, while also serving as a reminder of the importance of unity and brotherhood in Islam.
Through these simple yet profound words, Muslims convey their prayers for the safety, success, and spiritual fulfillment of those undertaking the pilgrimage, invoking Allah’s blessings upon them and their families. It is a time-honored tradition that fosters a sense of community and belonging among Muslims, transcending geographical and cultural boundaries to unite believers in a shared celebration of faith.
Embracing the Spirit of Hajj
As Muslims exchange greetings of “Hajj Mubarak,” they embody the spirit of compassion, generosity, and devotion that characterizes the Hajj pilgrimage. It is a time of spiritual reflection and renewal, marked by acts of worship, repentance, and self-discipline. Muslims are reminded of their duty to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and mercy in their daily lives, following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the righteous companions who exemplified these virtues. Motivation – Mind – Success – Thinking – Productivity – Happiness
The Hajj experience fosters a deep sense of humility and gratitude, as pilgrims from diverse backgrounds come together in a shared expression of faith, transcending differences of race, nationality, and social status. Through their collective journey to the sacred precincts of Mecca, Muslims reaffirm their commitment to Allah and His commandments, seeking His pleasure and forgiveness with sincerity and devotion. “Hajj Mubarak” thus encapsulates the essence of this spiritual journey, conveying blessings and good wishes to all who embark on this blessed pilgrimage.
